Lost in this excellent essay is the fact that Wilma Flintstone and Betty Rubble were lovable and hot - a sad commentary on modern life. Too many conveniences lead to obesity and heart failure. I am searching for a convenient cave to move into.

Charles, Thanks so much for your comment. I totally forgot how hot Wilma and Betty looked in those short leopard skin outfits. Unfortunately, they are seven thousand years older than me, and I don't date women over age 5,000. Sitting here in my air-conditioned home, I couldn't possibly give up the conveniences, especially my PC and butter pecan ice cream. To balance my addiction to civilization, I've been exercising regularly for a half century.

Duval Noah wouldn't have lasted a week in the wild. He probably wouldn't last even 3 days just camping, with food supplies.
