I like this part the best: "So if you really want to understand the world, you have to immerse

yourself in it and stay open to the possibility that you may be wrong.Your identity must be fluid enough to change when necessary. Andyou must recognize that the world will always be filled with ideas, words, and people that you don't like and cannot control."

I'm very interested in your next installment on Middle School Sex.

Thanks for your comment, Gracie. Yes, I thought the comment in the magazine was so perfectly written, that I could not improve it, so I just copied it verbatim. That was so much more realistic than telling kids that when they come up against anything upsetting, they should run and hide.

Yes, I want to be sensitive to people and how things affect them but I don't think we do anyone (but especially kids) a favor by removing all difficult morments from their lives. People grow and learn and come to empathize with others through the richness and depth of the difficult moments. I also do want people to treat others with respect (so, for example, don't body shame people at any time ) but I'm not sure that putting up signs is the best way to influence people. People also learn by watching the behavior of others, right? Behave with kindness and sensitivity if you reallly want to impact people. 🤷🏻‍♀️
