WHY I’M NOT A HATER
Note to subscribers and followers - I’ll be dropping these shorter Note Bombs from time to time. The weekly posts will continue.
I pulled this from a supposedly non-political, Baby Boomer group with around 137,000 members.
It received many responses. Here’s mine.
I don't hate women - I even married one; I'm not homophobic, but I don't want it pushed on my children; I believe in all aspects of science, not just the science that supports my agenda; I don't hate the poor but prefer they work their "fair share;" I don't hate minorities, but they should compete in the free market of education and employment without unfair advantages through Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
So, then what are you? A blatherer of leftist cliche's, pumping yourself up by demonizing those with whom you disagree; uninformed; blind to reality; intolerant; ignorant; overgeneralizing about almost eighty million people; accusing Republicans of hate while you spout hatred; unable to understand that good people can disagree; unable to understand that the other side has credible and thoughtful reasons for their beliefs. Painting a class of people with one broad, discolored brush.
Thank you so much for writing this. I am a registered Republican who has refused to vote for Trump in 2016 (I could not bring myself to vote for Hillary either) and would not vote for him in 2024 mostly due to the Jan 6 thing.
Many of my fellow Republicans say i am a RINO and on several social issues I do lean left of center. Democrats often say I am a right winger because of my stance on fiscal conservatism and foreign policy. I do not believe in isolationism and since I don't believe in Utopia, somebody has to be the biggest and baddest....I want it to be us. They say that makes me a water monger.
There is such a wide range of people between both extreme right and extreme left. The name calling and accusations if you don't buy in hook, line, and sinker into everything one side or the other believes is tiring.
I miss the days when Tip O'Neal and Ronald Reagan sat down over cigars and a glass of scotch and just compromised and got shit done.
I want anyone who is elected as US president to be able to say "My fellow Americans " and really mean it. This divisive, nasty, climate makes me sad. Hopefully the policies that are enacted by this administration will result in a positive outcome that allows all to pursue happiness.
